zero-sequence Current Transformer

The zero-sequence current transformer is a zero-sequence current filter whose secondary side reflects the zero-sequence current of the primary system. This kind of current transformer surrounds the three-phase wire (busbar or cable) with an iron core, the primary winding is the three-phase conductor of the protected element, and the secondary winding is wound on the iron core.

  Features:                                                                                                                                                                

 Under normal circumstances, due to the symmetry of the three-phase current on the primary side of the zero-sequence current transformer, its phasor sum is zero, no magnetic flux is generated in the iron core,There is no current in the secondary winding.
When a single-phase ground fault occurs in the system, the sum of the three-phase currents is not zero.The primary winding will flow current, which is equal to 3 times the zero-sequence current of each phase, so zero-sequence magnetic flux appears in the iron core, the The magnetic flux induces electromotive force in the secondary winding, and the secondary current flows through the circuit breaker to make it act.
In fact, due to the asymmetrical arrangement of the three-phase wires, the mutual inductances between them and the secondary winding are not equal to each other, and the unbalanced current flows in the secondary winding of the zero-sequence current transformer.
