When making a transformer, the number of turns wound around the coil is more, the input voltage is higher (or the current is larger), and the current can be detected on the output coil. Although the efficiency of such a transformer is very poor.

Finally, when you are testing, you must connect an electrical appliance, such as a resistor or a small bulb, to the output coil, and then test the voltage. Otherwise, the output coil does not form a loop, and it may be difficult to detect data simply by detecting the voltage with an electric meter. (when most meters are in the voltage range, the internal resistance of the meter is very large, which is not enough to form a loop for the output coil).
