Nowadays almost all high precious transformer in state grid table are using nanocrystalline magnetic core. This is because the permeability of nanocrystalline alloy is near to permalloy but higher than silicon steel. Its precision can be 0.1%. Nanocrystalline alloy core is much lighter and has wider linearity range than permalloy in the same size and similar performance range. Besides, the manufacturing cost of nanocrystalline core is only 50% of permalloy's. Nanocrystalline is the best soft material for precision transformer.
